I spent few days in Koh Kood in November 2020, while it was during COVID and very little tourists. I enjoyed the program from the government “Rao Tiao Duay Gun”‘ (We travel together) to get a discount of 40% on hotels and others. Only Thai people can participate now but it was done with my ex partner. This program was just extended again this week.
Koh Kood is my favorite island in Thailand so far, and yes, been to Samed, Samui, Lanta, Lipe, Koh Chang, Phuket, Krabi, Phi Phi, etc.
It’s not a place to have parties. After 9pm, almost everything is closed. But the water, beach, the place, it’s awesome. Do visit the fisherman village and I recommend a restaurant called “Ra Beang Mai”. Koh Kood is kind of Koh Chang 15 years ago (and yes, I visited Koh Chang in 2004). The was a bar called the Deck Bar that was very nice at a resort and the place is just amazing.
It is not far from Trat. You must take a ferry, which is about 1,000 baht round trip including going to your hotel on the island by truck (ours was 30 minutes From pier). You mostly need to rent a motorcycle to go around. 200-300 baht per day.
