White elephant in Roi-Et

Sincerely one of the finest “farang” restaurant in Isaan. I actually do prefer to eat Thai food in this great restaurant of Roiet.

The place is comfortable and nicely decorated. There is a large bar inside with and wooden furniture. A private room is also available.

Klaus, the german owner (with his wife Poo) will make you taste some of the best Thai food available in Isaan. Even the Thai customer from Roiet will recognize that this “farang” managed restaurant has some of the best Thai food in the city. It’s one of the rare places in Isaan where the clients will be 50-50% Thai-Foreigners.

We suggest you to try some typical Thai dishes like Tom Ka Gai : They are really great at this restaurant. Try also Rat-Na-Thale. A seafood dish.

This is a chicken dish, with sweet lemon sauce. Similar to what is called Gai Tod Yot Ya.

The White elephant opens around 3 or 4pm and closes around midnight. They have a small parking and tables are available inside and outside. Giant screens playing sports, a pool table, air conditioning, games for children and everything you need to spend a nice evening. They obviously speak English and have a large menu including western dishes like sausages and Thai delicacies. Draft beer is also available and Internet.

This is one of my favorite for many years: Yam Moo Yang. It’s not Yam Moo Ya…

Ya is made with kind of sausages…Yang is roasted pork. It’s a simple Thai spicy salad but delicious.

Klaus likes art and you will see many of his paintings on the walls. You might also see a picture from Dominic Rouse, a British photographer who won some international prizes and also a resident of Roiet for many years.

You can read an other article written by Stickman Bangkok about this restaurant (click here and See paragraph 20 of that text).

You can call Klaus at 043-514778 if you need more information.

Few years ago, with Klaus.
